So Leicester City kick-off the 2012/13 campaign with their biggest League Cup win in 19 years. Not since a 6-1 victory at Rochdale in Round Two of the completion way back in 1993 have the foxes won a League Cup tie by a four goal margin.

So here are the key numbers from the game;
0 – This was Leicester’s first clean sheet away from home since the 23rd February. Between a 1-0 at Derby and this latest win the Foxes had conceded on the road in seven consecutive games. A confidence boost for the new look defence.

Earlier this week this blog made disciple one of the key benchmarks to look out for, so it’s pleasing to see no bookings at all for the Foxes last night. Leicester will of course dominate few Championship matches as completely as they did this one, but nonetheless it’s a another good start.
24 – Leicester have now scored in 24 consecutive League Cup ties. Aston Villa were the last side to keep the Foxes at bay in this competition back in 2003.
